This graph shows the percentage of working people out of the estimated workforce of the central area compared to the whole country and the eastern and western area. 

Unemployment

This graph shows the number of unemployed in the central area in comparison to the western and eastern area. Unemployment has gone up in all ares 2019 compared to 2018. The number of unemployed people in the eastern area is about the same between 2011 and 2019 as the graph shows.

This graph shows that in 2011-2018, unemployment has gone down in all areas, but goes up again in 2019. 

On Index

Changes in work have been great in the central area in the last few years. More changes are ahead. It is important to monitor the number and percentage of working people and compare to other places as well as monitor information on unemployment. 

Data on the number of working people and number and percentage of unemployed people will be published in this index. Individuals included are people aged 18-69. 

Frequency

Information on employed people are published yearly but information on unemployed people twice per year, in January and July.

Area

Data from the whole of Iceland, the central, eastern and western area will be compared. 

Accountability

The project manager is responsible for acquiring the data and publishing it according to the publishing schedule.
