The steering committee in the North East Sustainability Project is as following:

The goal of the steering committee is to suggest to the owners who should handle or manage the project, who should be responsible for forming and implementing the project and make suggestions on progress, cost and changes in indices.

Each representative in the steering committee has one vote..

 

Meetings of the Steering Committee

Minutes of meetings of the steering committee of the North East Sustainability Project will be published after meetings, when the committee has approved them. 

The steering committee meets twice per year. The first meeting is in March and the second in November. 

6th Meeting 

The sixth meeting of the steering committee of the North East Sustainability Project was held in Fosshótel Húsavík, 23rd of October 2017. In this meeting the proposition plans for the project and the cost estimate for 2018 became official. The website for the project was introduced and the practical value of the project discussed.

5th Meeting

The fifth meeting of the steering committee of the North East Sustainability Project was held in Skútustaðahreppur municipality offices. The website for the project, contracted research, special data processing, domain of the website for the project and its practical value were discussed.

4th Meeting

The fourth meeting of the steering committee of the North East Sustainability Project was held in Þeistareykir. The role of the steering committee, the website setup and the division of the project's sphere of influence were discussed.

3rd Meeting

The third meeting of the steering committee of the North East Sustainability Project was held in Húsavík. A consultation plan, the project's indices and an increase of owners were discussed.

2nd Meeting

The second meeting of the steering committee of the North East Sustainability Project was held in Húsavík. The project's sphere of influence, its goals, its consultation process and an increase of owners were discussed. The indices of the project were reviewed.

1st Meeting

The first meeting of the steering committee of the North East Sustainability Project was held in Húsavík. The meeting was the first part of reactivating the project that initially started in 2008, establishing a new steering group and planning the process for the next few months.

Landsnet

Landsnet is a part of the North East Sustainability Project. The company has participated and had someone in the steering committee since the project was reactivated at the end of 2014.

PCC BakkiSilicon

PCC BakkiSilicon entered the North East Sustainability Project in the beginning of 2018. The company appoints one person for the steering committee. 

 

Municipalities in the Area of Operations

The municipalities NorðurþingSkútustaðahreppur and Þingeyjarsveit all participate in the North East Sustainability Project and have done so ever since the project started again. The municipalities are within the project's sphere of influence and all have in common that areas of land that they own is being used for industrial growth, cable installations and/or power stations. They each appoint someone for the steering committee. The district managers in each municipality have been its representatives.

Independent Researchers - RHA

On behalf of independent researchers the RHA (University of Akureyri Research Centre) appoints one person to the steering committee.

Tour Operators in the North East

Tour operators in the North East jointly appoint someone for the steering committee. Þingeyjarsveit tourism association,  HúsavíkurstofaMývatnsstofa and Markaðstofa Norðurlands appoint someone together.
